God is the God of Breakthrough

Wow!! it sure has been a long time since I posted anything, so I thought I would share this with you all, be blessed!!!

The Lord thy God is the God of the breakthrough!!

2Sa 5:9  So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.

2Sa 5:10 And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him.

2Sa 5:17  But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.

2Sa 5:18 The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

2Sa 5:19 And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? Wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

2Sa 5:20  And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim.

2Sa 5:21  And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.

2Sa 5:22  And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

2Sa 5:23  And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.

2Sa 5:24  And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.

2Sa 5:25  And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him;

Lets look a the meaning of the word Philistinesrolling, that is migratory, a primitive root to roll (in dust) wallow self. Some of the meanings speak for themselves; the meaning for “wallow” is to revel with self indulgence, to roll about with pleasure.

David was a man after the heart of God, he was and is an example to the body of Christ of how we are to be, he hid in God he knew who his God was, his heart was knit with His maker that it did not matter what stood before him, he knew God would conqueror all his enemies. God was His refuge, Psalm 62:7; In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

Psalm 94:22; But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge 2Sam 22;3The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

So we see here in the scripture that David dwelt in the fort that he had built, the stronghold, and called it the city of David 2Sam5:9 I believe the city of David, the stronghold, was the very presence of God that he had established in his life, he was a man of worship and brokenness. He knew what psalm 91 was all about, glory to God!! Do you?? Do you dwell in the secret place of the Most High? Do you have the stronghold of your God surrounding you? Glory to God we can live in that great compass of his protection and his love that no enemy can have the victory against us.

So when the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as King, what happened? The fleshly spirit rose up and went to seek him out!! I want you to look at this as if you were seeing two natures here the Philistines representing the flesh the self life of self indulgence, the very nature we war against in this life, self pleasure, do you think David was such a saint? We know he was not, he was a murderer and he committed adultery, He knew what it was all about giving into the flesh, but his heart was after the Living God!! And when our hearts are after the living God we have an enemy to conqueror and that enemy is the self nature who lives for the flesh, which lives for the now, the moment of satisfaction, if it feels good, do it! Now that can also mean other things of the flesh ,like self pity and anger and unforgiveness Now let’s see David as being the very spirit that is hungry for the obedience of Christ, the purity of living for God, having a spirit after the very heart of God! Glory to God. Two natures warring against each other both wanting to be king, but who will win? Well David knew he had to go back to the stronghold verses 17, Picture yourself , the very nature of David running into the presence of the Most High where there is no enemy that can defeat you, it was there that David got the mind of the Lord, we must get into that secret place where we hear His voice ,and know the strategy  for battle, for our enemies are very real, yes they can and will defeat us if we do not rise up against that philistine flesh creature and get the heart of God. Our flesh will lie to us , it will only feed the carnal man and not the spirit, our flesh tells us that we are defeated but our hearts for God, our Davidic hearts tell us we must get into the stronghold of God and find his mind in the matter, find the mind of the Lord in the midst of the battle.

So we see the Philistines came to a valley called “Rephaim” vs. 18 meaning to slacken, cease, and consume fail, feeble, weak. They brought themselves to this place because ultimately God is in control of those who have hearts like David, so he will bring our flesh to the place where it will fail and be consumed, so what ever you are battling with what ever you need to overcome. Then David inquired of the Lord vs. 19 it is all about inquiring of the Lord , getting the word of the Lord so that you can war with weapons of discernment and insight into what is the Now word!!  God’s response to David was that of victory.

God said I WILL DOUBTLESS DELIVER THE PHILISTINES INTO THY HAND!!! THERE IS NOTHING IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD, IF YOU ASK AND BELIEVE NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO THEM THAT KNOW AND BELIEVE THEIR GOD!!!!

So David came to the place called Baalperazim (GOD OF THE BREAKTHROUGH) he came to that place in his heart in his live where God came through for him, know today that whatever you are facing whatever enemies that represents the flesh the self live is not to big for God, he will bring you to place of breakthrough but first you might have to come to the place of Rephaim (weakness, fail , feeble) It is there where the flesh is exposed so that it may lose its power and then the heart of David in you can arise and overcome much. It is at the place of breakthrough that the idols of the flesh are laid down; it is a place where the flesh abandons the idols of the heart, to allow the heart of David to rule.God knew David needed the revelation of who God was “the God of the breakthrough” but we see  the battle was not over there as the Philistines(flesh) rose up again in the place of weakness (Rephaim)vs22-25 And David again inquired of the Lord, the Lord gave strategy and David was obedient again with victory, what are you facing today that your flesh is screaming out , what is it that seems impossible with you and with your flesh? Know that today God can defeat and has defeated ALL your enemies, you just need to get into the stronghold (the presence of the Lord) and find rest , yes rest in his presence and rest in his love that he sees the Davidic heart in you and he will accomplish all that he has told you and all that you are going through , the Lord on High is Mightier !!

Psa 93:1  The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.

Psa 93:2  Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.

Psa 93:3  The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.

Psa 93:4  The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.

Psa 93:5  Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever.

Though the floods have lifted their voice the Lord on high is mightier, he has broken through your enemies like a breach through the waters!! Glory to God

I had seen that wonderful word BaalPerazim years ago, (my wife actually found it) and God revealed it to her as you wrote, the God of the breakthrough, I mean 20 years ago, and when we looked for it again we couldn\’t find it because we remembered it as jehovah Perazim for some reason so today I did a search and found your blog and wha ! There it is with the encouragement you included. We needed this at this time as we are facing a huge obstacle and need to go to and embrace Rephaim, i.e. ourselves as feeble and weak and we need to cease our labors because God is needing to be glorified, not our fleshly striving. Thanks for posting even though it was in January and of what year? Bless the Lord! Montford Matthews
